This 8 day travel plan to Leh Ladakh is to get you drowned with mist-quilted beauties of the Himalayas. Apart from riveting Himalayan views, this trip is arranged to offer you the chance to several other rousing activities. This mesmerizing journey grants you to dig into the beauty of the delighting landscapes. A pleasure filled and exuberant journey is waiting to surprise you. 

Day 1- Arrival at Leh

Getting to Leh is best possible by boarding a flight. Once you get down at Leh, you will see a seeming change in the landscape around you. Towering Himalayas with foothills covered with   golden white sand and a hint of green pastures outlining the crystal blue water flowing down the hills and plateau. Enjoy the scenery on your way to the hotel room. After checking in, get fresh and stroll the lanes of Leh to explore its calm but exquisitely adorned markets. Pick some souvenirs for your loved ones if you like.  Return to the hotel room for dinner and overnight stay. 

Day 2- Towards Likir Gompa and Alchi

Take a drive down the Likir Village which 1 kms from the centre. Likir village is famous for its terrain and the popular Likir Gompa. The gompa is fort monastery. The monastery is famous for the statue of Maitreya Budhha, also known as the Buddha of the future.  The view down the monastery to the village is ecstatic. 

After lunch, drive down the Alchi Gompa, situated on the banks of Indus River flanked by beautiful valleys and the Himalayas.  Because it is not located on the hill top it is easily accessible. The miniature paintings and sculptures of Buddha are major attractions. Get back to hotel room for overnight stay and dinner.      

Day 3- Witness the magical wedlock of Zanskar and Indus/ Sham Valley

After breakfast, head towards the Sham Valley early in the morning. On the way, do not forget to see the magical effect created by the famous Sangam in Ladhak. The confluence of Zanskar and Indus river on the way to sham valley is a spectacular sight you can clearly see deep blue and grey waters creating a beautiful landscape. 

Visit the basgo Gompa which is considered to be the one of the centre of power for a branch of Namgyal family. It is better if you can pack your lunch for the way, in spite of looking for eating joint.

After lunch head towards Gurdwara Shri Patthar Sahib. The gurudwara is famous for Guru Nanak Dev’s visit in 1517 and killing a demon hence making him famous in Ladakh. On the way experience the gravity defying mountains of magnetic hill. It is said that the vehicle placed in neutral gear moves upwards. The force of gravity is less on this hill. Return to the hotel for overnight stay and dinner. 

Day 4- Exquisite landscape of Pangong Lake

After breakfast, take an early morning drive to Pangong. Visit the Shey Palace and the famous monastery. Once the abode of the royals of Ladakh, the palace is now a major tourist attraction situated amidst the hills. The monastery is famous for the 7.5 meter high gold plated statue of Buddha. Just a small drive ahead will lead you to the Pangong valley and lake, a spectacle by nature in its own right. The lake is situated in Himalayas at the height of 4,350 m and gives a view of the Changchenmo range which leaves you in awe. Return to the hotel in the evening for overnight stay. 

Day 5: Exquisite monasteries

After breakfast, visit the two most famous Gompas in Leh. Spituk Gompa is famous for its annual function held in the month of January. This is the occasion when it reveals the Kali mage which is kept covered throughout the year.

After lunch, visit the Thiksey Gompa   which is one of the largest and architecturally most magnificent Gompas in Ladakh. It has a huge complex with temples and many artifacts depicting the life and times of Buddha.  Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

Day 6: Towards the Valley of flowers

The Valley of Flowers or the Nubra valley is famous for the wide variety of flora and exquisite scenery by the flower beds. On your way to Nubra valley, stop at the Khardung La Pass. Carry lunch packs with you. After lunch stroll down the Khardong and Deskit village to arrange an overnight stay there. 

Day 7: Sights at Nubra Valley

Early in the morning visit the Deskit Gompa founded in 1420 by King Dragspa. The monastery is also famous for a festival called Gustor. Enjoy camel safari at the picturesque locales of Hundar village. After lunch head towards the Donkey Sanctuary which exhibits Ladakh’s exquisite fauna.  Head towards the Leh Mosque, also referred as the Jama Masjid of Ladakh. It was built in 1666 AD when India was under the control of Aurangzeb. Stay at the nearby village for dinner to return to Leh next morning. 

Day 8: Back to Leh

After breakfast head towards Leh. The enchanting trip across Leh Ladakh ends here. Time to board your flight.
